This policy covers the Bokumi app for iPhone and iPad and this website.
What stays on your device#
Your library, categories and tabs, reading progress, bookmarks, history, downloads, the files you import, backups, settings, and the name you may choose to show on the More tab are stored on your device. We never receive your files or look inside them. Passwords and tokens for the services you log in to are stored in the iOS Keychain and are never put in backups or sync.
What we collect#
Nothing. The App has no analytics, no advertising identifiers, no third-party crash reporters, no tracking, and no accounts. We do not receive your library, your reading, your device identifiers or your location. We do not sell or share data, because we do not have any.
Apple may give developers aggregate, anonymous information about downloads and, if you chose to share it, crashes and usage. We see it only in that form.
iCloud sync (Bokumi Plus)#
If you use Bokumi Plus and iCloud is available, Bokumi syncs through the private database of your own iCloud account, using Apple's CloudKit. Your data is stored in your iCloud, encrypted by Apple under Apple's terms, and counts toward your iCloud storage. It is not visible to us. It syncs your library, categories, progress, bookmarks, history, tracker entries (not logins), the extensions and sources you set up, and most settings. Downloads, app lock, incognito, your app icon and your tracker logins stay on each device. You can turn sync off in More → Sync, and delete Bokumi's iCloud data in Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Storage → Bokumi.
When Bokumi uses the internet#
Only when you use something that needs it:
- Things you connect to. If you add a repository, extension, server or website, Bokumi connects to it on your behalf, and it sees your request and your IP address. Its privacy practices, not ours, apply. Bokumi does not add your account information to these requests, and an extension can only reach the addresses it showed you before you installed it. Extensions never see your iCloud, your sync data or your tracker logins. See section 4 of the terms.
- Tracking services. AniList, MyAnimeList, MangaUpdates and Kitsu are contacted only after you log in, to update your reading lists, under their privacy policies.
- Apple. Purchases, subscriptions, iCloud and software updates are handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. We never see your payment details.
Children#
Bokumi is not directed at children under 13, and it does not collect personal information from anyone.
Your choices and rights#
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete. You control your data on your device: delete the app to remove everything stored locally; delete your iCloud data as described above; and log out of tracking services, or remove the app from their settings, to end those connections. If you want to exercise a privacy right where you live, write to us and we will respond.

This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party trackers. Fonts are served from this site. Our host may keep standard server logs, such as IP address and requested page, for security and reliability.
